Jack, the (over)dramatic apple tree

This short story is part of the Sim Creatives forum Lyrical Flash Fiction (April 2025). The lyrics I started from are those from the song "Jack il melodramatico" from the band Pinguini tattici nucleari. Here is the song's YouTube video, and here is the translation of the lyrics I started from. For your knowledge, the text you'll see in the following is all a 1:1 translation of the actual lyrics.
Because yes, if it wasn't clear already, I often listen to very weird music.

Closing remarks
Absurd, isn't it? How could the songwriter even think about such a weird story for their song, you may wonder? Well, it's all based on an assonance in the original title. You have to know that the Italian word for "apple tree" is "melo", which results in "dramatic apple tree" (i.e. "melo drammatico") and "melodramatic" (i.e. "melodrammatico") sounding basically the same in this language (in particular if pronounced quickly). So I like to imagine this band, in front of a beer, commenting something like: "Hey, melodramatic sounds just like "dramatic apple tree"! Wait, who knows what a "dramatic apple tree" would have to say..."

  1. It's a really nice little illustration of a mournful song 💖
