Grim Reaper event: Episode 3

 <-- Previous Chapter

Weeks have passed, let's go check on Strangerville's local hero, Timmy! He's the chosen one after all, the one who is working on the mysterious quest the Reaper had for the mortals!

Ehm, Timmy, what are you doing? Oh, trying to repeal the face-bags action plan... I can see why, it's probably hard to bring on an investigation with your eyes covered in that stuff.

Now that your face is free again, Timmy, what's the next task you were given?
What, reaching Caster's Halley? Well, that's... unexpected. Nor me, the narrator, nor Timmy can tell the real motives of this quest yet anyway, so all we can do is follow the indications, and then unite the points.

Timmy is quite an expert on supernatural and occult phenomena by now. He (somehow) solved the Strangerville's mystery (and still carries the effects), became a mermaid and then a werewolf for a while, and got a part-time job as paranormal investigator. Yet, not even he knows much about the Magic Realm, and thus he ended up summoning the most magical friend he has for help.

"Well, if I had to guess, I'd say you were suggested to come here for cheating, and make things easier for you. A lot of the requests in your lists are about finding the ingredients for the mythological recipe for Ambrosia after all, and the stalls over here sell quite a few of them. If I'm not mistaken, tomorrow you'll find the dragon fruit and angel fish, for instance."
"Thanks, Father Winter. I'll give a look."

Counting the little money left in his pocket (and bank account), and thinking that Father Winter could have been a better choice for this mission, Timmy quietly reached a stall. He asked for those (very expensive) ingredients, bought very little of them, and then left the Realm.

Albeit his great experience with occults, Timmy still preferred other ways of investigation. He's never been very lucky with magical stuff, after all.

Thus, his personal investigation of the motives of this new adventure could only pass from one spot. Timmy is starting to grow tired of all this story after all, he's been working full-time on this for weeks by now.

"What, why were you chosen for this task? I don't remember who suggested your name first... But you worked with spirits before, right? Summoning the Reaper doesn't sound so different after all, and the rest of us wouldn't know where to start!"

Well, thinking about some past adventures, I can see why people would associate Timmy with ghosts and such... It wasn't easy to convince them he's competent at his job, however.

Anyway, Timmy, I understand your existential questions, but you still have a lot of tasks to complete on your list. So pick up that new bike of yours, the not-at-all-flashy one the Reaper gave you as a present, and move on! Angel fish don't fish themselves on their own, you know?

Wow, Timmy, that was extremely unexpected! Did you really fish it on your first attempt? I may need to re-evaluate how bad your luck is!

Back to his trailer, Timmy was welcomed by his new (self-proclaimed) best buddy, the Reaper. Being unable to tell their real intentions prevents Timmy from fully trusting them, which is a required foundation for true friendship, but by now I would say Timmy is starting to get used to their ominous presence. So much so that he decided to prepare them a special dish he just learnt how to cook, the fruit cake!

"I hope you'll like it, it's my favourite dish!"
"I don't need to ingest food like the livings, but if you insist..."

"So, do you like it?"
"I cannot taste it, but it appears edible for you humans."

Well, Timmy, not even food seems to be a good way to hear about their secrets...

"Great. Now wait for a moment, I need to sit down..."

"Are you feeling well, Timmy? You aren't on my list yet."
"TĦ€ MŐŦH€Ř Į$ ČĂŁŁING, Į MŮ$Ŧ Ř€$PŐNĐ!

"I must have overestimated the level of edibility of that cake..." a very perplexed Reaper commented, before leaving Timmy to his night of wandering to do whatever the Reaper does in their free time.
